- Facebook: envelops the earth, is everywhere, and dwarfs the rest
- Microsoft: as large as the EU, but internal rivalry hurting innovation
- Apple: governed by a dictatorship, censors, yet wields a lot of power
- MySpace: reminiscent of the breakup of the Soviet empire
- LinkedIn: is pretty much an island unto itself
- Twitter: wants to be seen as an emerging power, but has infrastructure issues
- FriendFeed: hardly anyone lives there
- Nokia and Orkut: leaders in the third-world
